Milling

Background

Many Cities have an aggressive Slurry Seal program for maintaining their streets, a wise move that will extend the asphalts life and save the Agency thousands of dollars. After a couple of treatments, the slurry will build up at the edge of gutter creating trip hazards as well as being unsightly. This is where agencies abandon the Slurry Seal program, and move to a Grind and Overlay project.

NEW WAY OF THINKING

Here is a money saving technique. Instead of milling one (1) to two (2) inches deep and completing an asphalt overlay, mill the edge of gutter flush. Now, you have a couple of choices. If alligator cracking has started to appear,  a Cape Seal (Chip Seal overlaid with a Slurry Seal), or, if no alligator cracking has started, you can continue with the Slurry Seal program. Either way, the Agency saves money.

WHAT YOU WILL SEE
